- Color: The color of gi you choose is based on your preference, as there are many different colors of Shoyoroll gis. The primary three colors of competition style gi are black, white, and navy blue. There are other non-primary colors available as well if you want to go for a unique style.
- Weave: There are several main types of weave used to create martial arts kimonos. Single weave and double weave are common traditional types of kimonos. Shoyoroll makes several single weave and double weave kimonos. The other main type is pearl weave. Pearl weave gis are long-lasting and lightweight.

- Husky: Husky size Shoyoroll gis are designed with more space in the torso and more width in the pants compared to pant length. The husky sizes A0H, A2H, and A3H are designed for those 5 feet 3 inches and up to 6 feet tall and 165 to 225 pounds.
- Long: The Shoyoroll long size is designed for the tall and lanky with long legs and long arms to fit into the sleeves and pant leg length of the kimonos. Shoyoroll offers A1L, A2L, and A3L gi sizes for those 5 feet 6 inches to 6 feet 6 inches tall and 135 pounds to 205 pounds.
- Fitted: Shoyoroll fitted size gis are a slim cut for those who like their kimonos to fit slim through the leg and chest. A00F, A1F, and A2F sizes are designed to fit those between 4 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 10 inches in height and 85 pounds to 160 pounds.
Before buying a used Shoyoroll gi, find out if it has been previously washed and dried, which will cause it to shrink a bit. Ordering one size larger is a safe decision when purchasing a previously laundry-dried gi.
