Rolex's Submariner line first began in 1953. The steel dive watch's long and illustrious history saw countless improvements and revisions. Rolex continued to innovate, resulting in highly capable modern designs that are both rugged and fashion-forward.

The Ref 116610LN steel dive watch went into production in 2010 and was a staple in Rolex's collection until 2020. While it resembles past models, this Rolex Submariner watch has many unique designs and construction elements.

The Ref 116610LN Case, Dial, and Crystal

From its infancy, Submariner watches had a stainless steel case. Ref 11610LN is no different. However, the 40-millimeter case is unique because it's a "super" case. The Rolex super case first appeared in 2005 and is standard on Ref 11610LN. It has an overall thicker and beefier profile. It contains larger lugs, a wider bezel, and more defined crown guards.

The dial is black and features Chromalight lumes. The luminous material appears on the indexes and hands. Like other Submariners, Ref 116610LN has the Mercedes-style hour hand, a dotted second hand, and indexes in various shapes.

Covering the dial is scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. Rolex applied an anti-reflective coating on the underside of the crystal, improving legibility in various lighting conditions. There's also a Cyclops lens over the date window.

The wider unidirectional bezel has a 60-minute scale. It also has a matching black Cerachrom insert.

The Ref 116610LN Rolex Submariner Watch Movement

Inside the stainless steel super case is Rolex's Caliber 3135 movement. The in-house movement uses 31 jewels to produce a beat rate of 28,800 VPH. It also has 48 hours of reserve power, hacking seconds, a rapid corrector quick-set date feature, and Rolex's Parachrom hairspring.

Caliber 3135 is chronometer-certified and is one of Rolex's most well-known movements.

    The Rolex Submariner Oyester Perputual Date

    The Rolex Submariner date is the probably the most functional, stylish, durable and iconic watch that one can buy. The advancements in the new " Ceramic " bezel model are many. The thicker lugs and crown guard make the 40mm case look like a 42mm while wearing comfortably. the new larger indices in the Maxi dial along with the wider minute and hour hands make reading this beautiful timepiece easy on the eyes. The final touch is in the fantastically engineered & patented "Glidelock" clasp, allowing easy multiple adjustments with the flick of the clasps base. All combined these improvements make this model is the best Rolex Submariner to date.
