Your Guide for Selecting Motorola Xoom Tablets

An Android tablet from Motorola may be one way you can take your entertainment options and work files with you wherever you travel. If you have a data plan or access to a Wi-Fi network, you can connect your Motorola Xoom to the internet to perform research for an upcoming presentation or to share important documents with friends and work colleagues. Understanding some of the styles that are available to you and what features they include might help you find what you need.

What common storage capacities are available to you?

Many tablets come with a pre-determined amount of data storage space that can vary from model to model. You may need only a small amount of storage to hold and share text files, documents, and web pages, or you may require a larger amount to store short videos and big applications.

Some of these Android devices have expandable memory slots. You may be able to use a microSD card to enlarge either the memory or storage space of the device you choose. An expanded memory may allow you to run more programs at once, while expanded storage may allow you to hold more data and files. Some basic storage capacities for these tablets include 16GB and 32GB.

Can you access the internet on a tablet?

Most tablets feature at least one method you can use to gain access to the web. Some models may feature more than one option for getting online. There are two primary ways you might be able to access the internet with your Xoom:

  • Wi-Fi - This type of Xoom device can access the internet as long as it is in range of an open Wi-Fi network. If you mostly use your tablet in locations that offer free wireless connectivity, this option may work well for you.
  • 3G - If you have a network data plan, you can use it on this Android device to access the internet. This connectivity method does not require a wireless network to be nearby in order to function.
Can you connect your tablet to other devices?

Most Motorola Xoom tablets come equipped with at least one way to communicate with other electronics. You may want to upload photos or videos you have taken to a computer. Perhaps you wish to move files from the Xoom to your laptop to free up some of the fixed storage space. There are a few ways you can connect the Android device to something else:

  • Bluetooth - You may be able to use Bluetooth to form a wireless connection between your Motorola Xoom and other electronics.
  • HDMI - You may be able to use a regular or micro-HDMI cable to form a direct connection between the two devices.
  • USB - A USB cord is another way to form a direct connection between the two units using a USB cable.
