Automotive Paint Booths

The purpose of an automotive paint booth is to control the environmental conditions while spray-painting a vehicle. It not only protects the mechanic but protects the finished product. Extraction fans and specialized ventilation systems are used to remove chemical fumes as well as dust particles, overspray and other contaminants that affect the paint job. In addition, the product can also regulate the temperature and humidity within the area, which allows the paint to be applied accurately. A plus to using one with heating technology is that it can bake the paint job enabling it to cure fast and efficiently, which removes the chance of damages to the surface of the car.

There is a multitude of styles and sizes of spray booths on the market, but the one you pick often comes down to the size of your shop and the volume of cars you plan to paint. For example, do you want a full-size model that remains up and ready for use 24/7 or would an inflatable paint booth fit your needs better?

Cross Flow Air Flow

Air flow is a primary concern when choosing the best model for your garage. A cross flow air flow draws the air into one end of the booth then traveling horizontally through the booth it exits through the opposite end. Typically, air flows from front to back, but some designs do allow for side to side airflow.

Down Draft Airflow

Another popular air flow design is down draft in which the air is drawn in at the top of the booth, travels down and exits out the bottom. Typically this is done through side down draft in which the air enters the top and comes down the sides to the bottom.

Pick Your Size

One size does not fit all when it comes to automotive paint booths. If you plan to paint an entire car then a larger model that allows for the car to be driven into the unit, door shut, and paint job completed is the one to choose. However, for those that plan to do smaller paint jobs, such as a fender or door, a five or six feet unit will get the job done.
